♥ Hot Cocoa for Haiti ♥
Hello! I am excited to say that our first event is about to take place! "Hot Cocoa for Haiti" is THIS SATURDAY from 10am - 2pm! We'll be sipping some delicious Tim Horton's hot cocoa and coffee*, and taking donations for the American Red Cross* to help the people of Haiti. So, after seeing what was happening in Haiti, I knew I had to do something. I mean, there I was, sitting in my nice, warm house, with my sweet - and safe! - children, watching the devastation that was happening to my fellow human beings. So what could I do? How could I help? How could I help in a way that was feasible for a busy mama of four? I thought about it for a few minutes, and then I realized the simplest way I could help was to hold a "Hot Cocoa for Haiti" fundraising event! While I've long been a 'mother hen', and have always tried to help in small sorts of ways, I had never actually tried to hold a fundraiser before - but I knew that's what I had to do! After a few phone calls and e-mails, what started out as a small idea had turned into a biggish sort of event! I thought a little hot cocoa stand would be a nice way to help, and a great way to show my daughters that even though they are young, they too can help and get involved with the world around them! By the time I got done thinking, calling, and e-mailing, my friends were on board to help and they were e-mailing their friends and family, too! I have pretty great friends! :)
After some more e-mails, and some more phone calls, and oodles of help from some really great friends, we have our first event! It's wonderful to see how people come together to make things happen.
